A Sudden Blackout At The Atlanta Airport In The United States, Or Triggering An International Air Traffic Chain Reaction

Passengers boarding the plane were forced to wait at the tarmac for an indefinite suspension.

According to CNN, at 11:30 a.m. ET on Sunday, the FAA issued a nationwide notice to suspend flights to Atlanta. All aircraft were waiting at the departure airport. US Customs and Border Protection said many inbound flights at Atlanta Airport have been diverted, including international flights.

The FAA said the cause of the accident is currently under investigation and delays in taking off and landing of flights are delayed due to the shutdown of the electrical equipment in the terminal.

According to its official website, Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport handles 2,500 flights daily, carrying an average of 275,000 passengers daily. Due to the large size of the airport, the accident may lead to a chain reaction of air traffic in the United States and overseas.

It is reported that Southwest Airlines has canceled all the rest of the day to take off and land at Atlanta Airport flights, passengers can re-book flights without rebate.

Georgia Power confirmed that its staff is working in the area to confirm the cause of the accident. A spokesman for the company said the blackout has affected the operation of the airport as a whole, and the airport is currently working with Georgia Electric to identify the cause of the blackout.

It is reported that blackouts led to terminal darkness, people can only use cell phone flash lighting. Brittny Dettro, a passenger, said that on Sunday afternoon local time she was preparing to fly from Atlanta to Milwaukee, Terminal B had a sudden blackout. Another passenger, Heather Kerwin, said: "Although some emergency lights were on, it was really dark and feels like the end, and I decided to leave here."
